All types of memories currently used are delicate systems with a limited life cycle; they can still fail at any time and for no specific reason and are not designed to be repaired: simply replacing them with new ones is much more cost-effective than having them repaired.
However, when the lost data is essential for our work or has considerable sentimental value, we must intervene to extract it from the memory on which it was stored using specific tools, experience and techniques. This is a time-consuming process.
Sometimes you unintentionally erase work or personal data, format the media, or the memory is damaged due to falls or shocks; sometimes it simply stops working for no apparent reason. If you don’t have a backup, you should contact a data recovery lab in the hope that recovery is technically possible.
Data is usually backed up on a regular basis in the professional or business environment. Nevertheless, even with RAID systems, in special circumstances or for unforeseeable causes, important data is sometimes lost and no copy is retained.
- Did your hard disk suffer a fall and you cannot access the files it contained?
- Your computer won’t start and you can’t open your files and folders?
- A client’s server or NAS won’t start?
- The external hard disk is no longer recognised?
- Your USB stick has stopped working?
- Your camera no longer contains the pictures you took?
Vedli Datalab is a laboratory specialised in data recovery not only from Hard Disk and SSHD, but also from any other digital media such as SSDs, RAID systems, USB Pendrive, Memory Cards, Professional Compact Flash, SD cards, microSDs, monolithic memories, smartphones and tablets.
Our services focus mainly on data recovery from non-functioning or physically-damaged memories; our highly professional approach allows us to successfully intervene even in the most complex cases of data loss. We recover data in 90% of cases thanks to the use of state-of-the-art, constantly updated instrumentation.
We can recover up to 100% of the data if the media is faulty but not excessively physically damaged, the client has provided us with accurate information about what happened, and there have not been any previous interventions.
Processing
Before any intervention, a visual, physical and logical diagnosis of the support is necessary in order to determine the chances of success, the time frame, and costs of recovery. A quote is then issued which may or may not be accepted by the client. Since each case presents its own peculiarities, with technical variables and unforeseen events that can only be detected during processing, any necessary changes to the estimate are always discussed and agreed upon with the customer.
It is very important to note that even when recovery is considered possible and a quote is issued, this cannot be guaranteed in advance for technical reasons: sometimes recovery is impossible because of excessive damage that can only be detected once the intervention is almost complete.
For this reason, the customer is only billed for the costs indicated in the estimate if the recovery of data has been successful.
For further information, please contact the laboratory or consult the Procedure and Indicative Costs section.
Use of the clean room
The clean room is a laminar flow hood that filters dust from the air inside it.
- It is used to open a HDD, reducing the risk of further damaging it.
- If a HDD needs to be opened, a quality laminar flow hood is required.
- You do not always need to open a HDD, so a clean room is not always required
- However, the process always involves expensive equipment and software, as well as numerous working hours.
Why choose a laboratory specialised in Data Recovery?
Unfortunately, errors due to recovery attempts made without the appropriate tools and the necessary experience cannot be remedied later, so it is essential to contact a specialised laboratory to ensure that everything possible is done to recover your data.
We cannot stress the importance of avoiding a “do-it-yourself” approach, even if undertaken with the best of intentions. A tiny mistake could lead to the permanent deletion of the data, and data which no longer exists cannot be re-created.
The data recovery sector is very distinctive because it requires tools, software, specific knowledge and experience as well as ongoing training and constant updating. Only laboratories dedicated exclusively to this activity can guarantee high-quality service to meet your needs.
On what media do we intervene?
HDD, SSHD and SSD
The laboratory operates on any HDD, SSHD and SSD of 1.8″, 2.5″ and 3.5″ format with SATA, mSATA, M.2 NGFF, SAS, IDE interface and disks with integrated USB 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1 interface.
USB Pendrive – SD – professional Compact Flash Drive
We extract data from any USB Pendrive, memory card or SD card that has file system or controller malfunctions or is physically damaged. We are also able to recover data from any device that stores data on NAND memories contained within it.
Monolithic Memories
We work with all monolithic memories. Compared to conventional memories, access to data is a particularly complex process; for this reason, laboratories that are able to carry out such operations are very rare.
RAID on NAS and Server
We recover data from NAS and Server with any number of disks, type of RAID and logical partitioning.
Smartphone and tablet
We extract data from most smartphone and tablet models, whether they are functional, faulty or physically damaged.
Other memories
We can also recover data from CD ROM, DVD, BD, BDXL of any format and type, NAND memories contained in devices dedicated to particular uses, Floppy Disk
File Systems
The file systems on which we operate are FAT, exFAT, NTFS, HFS+, APFS, Ext2/3/4, XFS, ReiserFS, UFS1/2, BtrFS, VMFS, ZFS, DHF4.1, WFS0.x, with any logical partitioning. We also recover data from virtual drives and FileVault, BitLocker and Truecrypt encrypted partitions.
